Short description: Interpretation of physical processes in the Earth's atmosphere and its contact air layer with the surface. Components of heat and water balance, features influencing local climate and microclimate. The main features of the climate of Europe and Poland. Exercises include methods of measurements of selected meteorological elements, principles of operation and the management of selected measuring devices and methods for the analysis of the data obtained.
Full description: Earth’s atmosphere components. Greenhouse effect. Sunshine duration and solar radiation. Heat exchange between active surface and deeper layers of the soil. Daily and yearly course of air temperature. Processes of phase changes of water. Physical process of water evaporation. Evaporation from the free water surface. Potential and actual evapotranspiration. The process of condensation and its products on the surface and in the atmosphere. Atmospheric deposits, fog, clouds. Pressure systems and fronts. Weather phenomena in low and high pressure systems. Weather on fronts. Synoptic weather reports and local weather forecasting. Complexes of weather in Europe and Poland. Climatic factors. Marine and continental climate. Main features of Europe climate. Climatic regions and district. Climatic regionalization of Poland. Causes and consequences of Earth’s climate change.

Learning outcomes: The student knows the basic physical processes taking place in the Earth's atmosphere. The student has knowledge on the land part of the hydrological cycle. Skills The student is able to perform basic measurements and calculations in the field of meteorology. The student is able to identify and analyze phenomena affecting the water balance. Competences The student is aware of the need to explore knowledge in the field of environmental development and protection.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: tests (classes, lecture) 6 computational exercise, climatological description, evaluation of the practical 50%, evaluation of the lecture 50%
